Lead Superintendent
People MVR is partnering with a growing roofing company in Southern California to hire an experienced Lead Superintendent to oversee field operations across multiple roofing projects.
This is a senior field leadership role responsible for overseeing field supervisors, foremen, and roofing crews to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards of workmanship.
The Lead Superintendent will work closely with the Head of Production and serve as the primary leader in the field, ensuring production plans are executed effectively, crews are held accountable, and potential issues are identified before they become costly delays or customer complaints.
We are looking for a seasoned roofing professional with strong technical knowledge, proven leadership experience, and the confidence to enforce quality and performance standards across multiple jobsites.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership: Oversee field supervisors, foremen, and roofing crews across multiple active projects. Establish clear expectations and hold teams accountable for performance, productivity, and workmanship.
Quality Control: Inspect jobsites to ensure roofing systems are installed correctly and meet project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards.
Jobsite Inspections: Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress, identify deficiencies, correct improper installation practices, and prevent rework or customer complaints.
Production Scheduling: Monitor project timelines, crew productivity, and schedule adherence. Identify delays and coordinate solutions to keep projects moving forward.
Safety Management: Lead regular safety meetings, enforce safe work practices, identify jobsite hazards, and ensure crews follow applicable safety requirements and company policies.
Materials & Equipment: Coordinate with field supervisors and production leadership to ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available when needed.
Crew Accountability: Address performance issues directly, correct poor workmanship, and ensure foremen and field supervisors maintain consistent standards.
Problem Solving: Anticipate field challenges and resolve issues involving scheduling, materials, workmanship, staffing, and jobsite logistics before they affect project outcomes.
Production Coordination: Partner with the Head of Production to communicate job progress, report field issues, implement processes, and improve overall production performance.
Qualifications
Extensive experience in roofing, construction, or a closely related industry.
Proven experience leading roofing crews, foremen, field supervisors, or multiple construction projects.
Strong knowledge of roofing systems, installation methods, materials, and quality control.
Ability to identify improper installation practices and enforce corrective action.
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to earn respect from field teams.
Experience managing jobsite safety, production schedules, and field operations.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple active projects and competing priorities.
Willingness to travel regularly between active jobsites throughout Southern California.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a hands-on field leader who understands what quality roofing work looks like and has the experience and confidence to hold teams accountable. They are proactive, decisive, and comfortable addressing problems directly rather than allowing small issues to become major production or customer concerns.
This person must be capable of leading through field supervisors and foremen while maintaining a strong presence on jobsites. They take ownership of field execution and work closely with production leadership to ensure consistent quality, safety, and productivity.
What Success Looks Like
Roofing crews consistently meet quality and installation standards.
Field supervisors and foremen take ownership of their teams and results.
Projects stay on schedule and avoid preventable delays.
Safety standards are consistently enforced.
Materials and equipment are available when needed.
Quality issues are identified early, reducing rework and customer complaints.
The Head of Production has a dependable field leader who ensures plans translate into results.
To Apply: If you have extensive roofing experience, strong field leadership skills, and a track record of managing crews and delivering high-quality projects, we encourage you to apply.
